Samsung has ended months of speculation by confirming which of its Galaxy AI features will remain free for users forever. The announcement comes after mixed messages from the company about whether these tools would eventually require a subscription.
In a statement to Android Police, Samsung clarified that all AI features preinstalled on Galaxy devices, such as Live Translate, Note Assist, Generative Wallpapers, Audio Eraser, and others will stay free forever. These tools, first introduced with the Galaxy S24 series, are developed by Samsung and integrated into its One UI software.
However, the future of Google’s Gemini-powered features, like Circle to Search, remains uncertain. While currently free, Google could introduce charges later on, as it already offers a paid tier called Gemini Advanced.
Samsung had previously stated that Galaxy AI would be free only until the end of 2025, sparking concerns among users. The company now suggests this disclaimer was likely a legal safeguard, as suddenly paywalling features could lead to backlash.
The confirmation reassures customers that core Galaxy AI tools won’t disappear behind a subscription. For now, Samsung users can rely on the brand’s in-house AI features without worrying about extra costs, even as the tech giant explores premium additions down the line.
