The Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry announced that Xiaomi Communications Co., Ltd. has initiated a product recall of one of its power banks.

According to the DTI, the product in subject is the Xiaomi 33W Power Bank 20,000mAh with an integrated cable and has a product code PB2030MI. Those affected are units manufactured between August 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024. Xiaomi also made the announcement in its global website.

Xiaomi is recalling the product due to the potential risk of overheating. The company estimates that around 4,900 units of the said product are affected and are circulating in the Philippines.

Affected units may experience malfunctions while in use, which could potentially result in battery overheating that poses a fire hazard.
