Apple may have revealed two upcoming products through clues in its own software.
According to a report, MacRumors found references to a new iPad mini and a second HomePod mini. Images and technical details appeared in Apple’s internal code, Apple has not commented yet, and details could still change before release.
The main upgrade for the tiny iPad is obviously the chip. Code shows the iPad mini 8 using Apple’s A20 Pro processor, the same one in the iPhone 18 Pro. That is a big jump from the A17 Pro in the iPad mini 7, which came out in October 2024. The A20 Pro has a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU, and two 16-core Neural Engines.
Leaked images show the front camera has moved from the top bezel to the landscape side of the screen. A small speaker opening now sits at the top of the display glass. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the tablet will also get an OLED screen, better water resistance, and a vibration-based speaker system.
The second HomePod mini keeps the same round, fabric-covered design as the 2020 original but adds new colors. The code shows green, pink, light blue, white, and black. The current lineup has yellow, orange, blue, white, and midnight.
The current model runs on Apple’s S5 chip from 2019. After six years with no hardware update, a faster chip seems likely, though the code does not confirm one. Other code hints at a smarter Siri, reportedly called Linwood, for Apple’s smart speakers.
No date or price has been confirmed. Gurman and others expect the new iPad mini, HomePod mini 2, and a refreshed Apple TV 4K to be revealed by October 2026.
