Camera Control, a fourth button that offers users a new way to navigate and control the iPhone camera, was the highlight feature of the iPhone 16 series. Apple made a big deal about it and even pushed a bunch of ads about it.
However, the dedicated button appears to be just a novelty that wears off easily, as not a lot of people actually use it. In fact, many iPhone 16 users we personally know rarely use it.
Adaptability for the new button is so low that a new rumor claims that Apple plans to retire it early. But, do take this report with a grain of salt, as the rumor came from a source (through Weibo) that doesn’t have a worthy track record.
That said, the rumor claims that the iPhone 17 series, coming next month, will be the last to have the infamous button. It is said that Apple has already notified relevant suppliers that it will put an end to the Camera Control on the iPhone 18 series.
A lot of Android makers have also started to implement a dedicated camera button on their flagships, so we’re also curious about their future plans.
If this report is true, how will you be affected by it? Do you actually use this dedicated camera button? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
