If the serial number has already faded, you can use your order number or receipt for verification. You can email support@anker.com for further assistance and use the subject line “Anker AXXXX Power Bank Recall”.
Anker is giving affected users two resolution options. You can have your unit replaced or receive an online voucher from Anker. You can then drop off the affected power bank at your nearest Anker store for proper disposal.
As for the reason for the recall, Anker said that they have found a “potential issue with a common lithium-ion battery cell from a single vendor” after conducting a proactive review of existing power bank batches.
Anker said that, while the “likelihood of malfunction is considered minimal,” they have decided to initiate a voluntary recall of the affected models.
The company assured customers that they are expanding their Battery Safety Program in the coming weeks to strengthen their commitment to quality and transparency.
