PLDT said that they are thinking of offering solar power solutions to consumers via a monthly subscription service.

The telco company may bundle its supposed solar power service with its existing internet offerings. We’ve seen PLDT bundling other services with their broadband internet before.

In a press release, PLDT said they plan to partner with a local solar energy provider — a first in the country. It will combine broadband internet and a renewable energy system into a single monthly subscription service.

This will make solar energy more accessible to regular Filipinos, as it will also lower upfront costs, which can be intimidating for users planning to have solar power in their homes.

“Initial test marketing activities have generated highly promising results, with strong consumer interest in an integrated digital and energy solution that offers both convenience and long-term savings,” PLDT said.

“If people can have solar panels installed together with internet in one go, it should be very compelling for our customers, especially the ones who wish to future-proof their homes,” said PLDT COO Buth Jimenez.
