Xiaomi has released a new outdoor security camera in China that runs entirely on solar power and mobile data.
The new Xiaomi Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro includes a solar panel for charging and a built-in 9,900mAh battery. According to the company, the battery can keep the camera running for more than eight days without sunlight. It also has two internal 4G SIM cards that work together to keep the connection stable, even in areas where network coverage is weak.
The camera comes with two 5-megapixel lenses that can record video in 3K quality. One lens moves up and down and side to side, while the other offers a wider rotation range for better coverage. The large aperture helps capture clear images at night, and the infrared lights allow visibility up to 10 meters in the dark.
Other useful features include a slot for a microSD card, an IP66 rating that protects against dust and rain, and motion detection powered by artificial intelligence.
Xiaomi is selling the Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro in China for CNY649 (~Php5,900). No word yet on when it might reach other markets.
