Gamescom 2026 attendees got hands-on time with Dune: Awakening on PlayStation 5, and Funcom has released a new gameplay video to go with it. The seven-minute clip runs on a PS5 Pro and gives players a solid preview of what to expect when the survival game hits consoles later this year.
Players will have two display settings choices on both the standard PS5 and the PS5 Pro. The Performance mode pushes for 60 frames per second with dynamic 4K visuals. The Quality mode drops the frame rate to 30 FPS but keeps the dynamic 4K resolution. Funcom says the Pro version will look sharper overall, with better native resolution in both modes and extra visual upgrades in Quality mode. The studio has not given exact numbers on those improvements.
The console edition arrives with all the updates and content that PC players have seen since the game first came out in June 2025. On top of that, Funcom is adding a full single-player campaign, adjustable difficulty levels, more gameplay options, and the end of the main story arc.
Fans who pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition can jump in early on September 17, five days before the official release.
Cross-play between PC and consoles is being worked on, but it will not be ready for launch day. Funcom has not set a date for when this feature will arrive.
The company also revealed a new DLC pack called Filmic Archive, which will be available on all platforms from day one for $9.99. It includes outfits from Denis Villeneuve’s movies, like the Aegis of the Unwalked Path armor and the Caladan Stormcoat. Players also get new Sardaukar armor and a big base-building set with 73 pieces themed around the Sardaukar.
Dune: Awakening comes out on September 22 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The Xbox version will be available through Game Pass as well.
