Apple’s very first foldable phone is finally official. Meet the iPhone Duo.
As expected, the iPhone Duo is the size of a passport, akin to the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The size is said to be perfect for different aspect ratios when watching content, multitasking, and more.
There’s also a sturdy hinge, which disappears when you open the device. It is also said to be the thinnest iPhone ever when opened. Plus, there are magnets that click when you open and close the device.
Oh, and there’s a really cool UI transition when you switch screens. Plus, the overall UI was redesigned to match the new form factor, with the dock on and status bar now on the left side. The UI also has many dynamic reactions when depending on how you fold the screen.
What we have here is a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR foldable display. A 5.4-inch screen is on the cover. They work with the Apple Pencil stylus. Apple boasted its titanium build, has ceramic material on the front and back, and is IP68 dust- and water-resistant.
Apple also highlighted its Nano-texture Finish on the foldable screen, which is said to feel nice to the touch and provide protection.
Say goodbye to Face ID, as the Touch ID fingerprint scanner is making a comeback on the Duo.
It is powered by the A20 Pro, also found on the iPhone 18 Pro series, with an advanced vapor chamber. There’s also the Apple C2 cellular modem.
As for the battery, Apple claims the dual-cell batteries last for up to 44 hours on a single charge. Fast charging is also supported.
For the camera, we have a 48-megapixel main camera, which lacks the variable aperture the iPhone 18 Pro models have. It is joined by a 48-megapixel ultra-wide, and a Center Stage camera on the cover display.
Apple surprisingly underplayed how the selfie camera on the foldable screen is under-display. Albeit the sensor used was not mentioned.
The iPhone Duo will have an SRP of Php159,990 for the 256GB model, Php175,990 for the 512GB, Php207,990 for the 1TB, and Php254,990 for the 2TB. It should be able in the coming weeks in the Philippines.
