Today, we get to unbox the Ego Phab. Torque claims it as its pinakamabentang or best-selling tablet. Does it deserve the hype? We spent some time using the tablet, and here are our first impressions.
The Torque Ego Phab is neatly packed inside a stylish red box that’s emblazoned with the company logo. Aside from the tablet itself, the box contains a user’s manual, warranty card, screen protector, USB data cord and wall charger.
If you managed to get hold of the Ego Tab S, you’ll find that the Torque Ego Phab has a similar design: a black slate with a plastic back. Its bezels around the screen are reasonably and comfortably thick enough for you to hold the tablet with a single hand. There are no capacitive buttons for navigation; instead, the tablet makes use of an on-screen button setup. Notice the metal grill nearby the front-facing camera. That’s right, you can make phone calls on the Ego Phab.

The capabilities of the Torque Ego Phab are rather limited. Its entry-level specs means you’ll notice the occasional stutters, lags and hiccups especially when you attempt to do resource-intensive tasks. The 7-inch screen, meanwhile, is far from offering an eye-watering experience, but it’s still good enough for reading texts and viewing images. And when you consider the affordable price, you can’t really complain.
