Alongside the new iPhones, Apple has also released new wearables at their September 2022 event. Meet the Apple Watch Series 8 and Watch SE. There’s also the all-new Watch Ultra, but that deserves its own feature.
The new Apple Watch Series 8 features a new edge-to-edge design with narrower borders that melts seamlessly with the curvature of the case. The screen itself is an Always-On Retina Display so you can always see relevant information even when the watch is on idle.
This new body has a crack-resistant screen, an IP6X dust-resistant certification, and has WR50 water resistance rating.
The new watch also now has a temperature sensor, better women’s health tracking with period predictions, better sleep monitoring, and of course, an ECG sensor and blood oxygen monitoring.
In its recent event, Apple made a big deal with its new Crash Detection feature. It is present on the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro models. It utilizes an array of sensors to detect if you’re engaged in a car crash and immediately call responders and your emergency contacts.
The Apple Watch Series 8 is available in a variety of cases and straps for a starting price of Php25,990 for the aluminum version.
Apple has also refreshed its budget smartwatch with the new Apple Watch SE 2022 model. It retains a couple of features like Crash Detection, a waterproof body, the same activity tracking, and more. Compared to the Series 8, it lacks dust resistance, no always-on display, lacks blood oxygen and ECG sensors, and no temperature tracking.
The new Apple Watch SE 2022 has a starting price of only Php15,990 in the Philippines.
