Along with software, the spike in AI innovations has also spawned new hardware that takes advantage of its power. Here’s a new one from Brilliant Labs, which is a pair of smart glasses simply called Frame.

Brilliant Labs claims that its multimodal Frame AI glasses will give you “AI superpowers,” which is made possible by an open-source AI experience enabled in part by OpenAI. It comes with a built-in camera, which will help answer your questions better. Meanwhile, the built-in microphones and speakers can help with things like live translations.

To display information, it has a micro OLED panel that is said to be bonded to a geometric prism in the lens and provides a ~20-degree diagonal field of view. It then pairs to your mobile phone using Brilliant Labs’ Noah app.

It also has a screen on one side. The promo materials don’t provide a realistic view of what the display will look like in the real world, so this time, all we have to do is wait. Oh, and it also works with prescription lenses.

There are two batteries on each end of the temples, which are the shape of a puck. Charging is done using a special adapter that attaches to the bridge between the lenses, to a USB-C port.

The Frame AI Glasses have a price of USD350 (~Php19,600) and are now available for pre-order and will ship in April. It comes in three colors: H2O (clear), Smokey Black, and Cool Gray. Since it uses AI, the product’s FAQ page hints at a paid subscription coming soon.
