Google has announced major updates to its products for 2026, including Android Auto.
The new Android Auto 2026 update gets a full-screen, edge-to-edge Google Maps, with different widgets on top of it. It supports different sizes and shapes of dashcams — from wide ones, rectangular screens, to even circular ones similar to those found on Minis.

Android Auto will now feature the Material 3 Expressive design language, offering expressive fonts, new wallpapers, and smooth animations. The widgets are now heavily customizable.
You can also create shortcuts to your favorite contacts, quick access to Google Home commands like opening garage doors, seeing the weather, and more.
What we really like is the Immersive Navigation, which is one of the biggest updates to Google Maps. It provides a vivid 3D view, putting you behind buildings or below overpasses when you pass them.
A much-awaited feature is the 60fps FHD video support. You can finally watch movies or any video on Android Auto on apps like YouTube. The FHD60fps will be available on cars coming from Ford, Genesis, BMW, Kia, Hyundai, Mahindra, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Skoda, Volvo, and Tata.
The videos will only show when the car is in park and will seamlessly switch to audio only when you switch to drive.
Of course, the new Gemini Intelligence will also be included.
These new updates will come out on Android Auto vehicles and cars with Google built-in this year.
