With underpowered specs and a screen size that was deemed too big for a smartphone, the original FonePad failed to garner attention from shoppers. Fast forward to Computex 2013, ASUS tries again with the new FonePad Note, a 6-inch device with features found in both tablets and handsets
With better components this time around, the latest FonePad iteration may have a better chance for success. The ASUS FonePad Note boasts a Super IPS+ screen with 1080p resolution and an impressive pixel density at 367ppi. Similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, this ASUS phablet also comes with a dedicated stylus that’s useful for graphics design and taking down notes.
Running under the hood is still an Intel processor. On the other hand, this new CPU known as the Intel Atom Z2560 (codenamed Clover Trail+) is arguably fast and powerful. It’s also clocked at 1.6GHz and features HyperThreading. Furthermore, the device has 2GB worth of system memory, while a PowerVR SGX544 MP2 handles the graphics department.

Given that the current mobile processors made by Intel do not support LTE, some consumers might be deterred for lack of the latest connectivity technology in the FonePad Note. In fact, the giant chipmaker won’t be able to ship LTE-capable products until next year.
