The original Cherry Mobile MAIA Pad was a serviceable enough tablet, but if you thought it was a little lacking, I wouldn’t blame you. It had a sub-par screen and a dual core processor that wheezed a bit when trying to get through your basic tasks. Thankfully though, it’s gotten an upgrade in the form of the quietly unveiled Cherry Mobile MAIA Pad Plus. The new MAIA Pad successor sports mostly the same specs, but bumps up key areas to improve performance and the overall user experience.

First, the screen of the MAIA Pad Plus is now an IPS panel and not the washed out TN screen of its predecessor. Second, it’s gotten an upgrade to a quad core processor instead a dual core chip. Finally, it now comes equipped with a 5mp camera on the back and a 2mp shooter on the back. The best part? It manages to retain its super affordable Php2,999 price tag!

It hasn’t been revealed yet whether the original MAIA Pad will be getting a price cut or will eventually just get phased out. The new Cherry Mobile MAIA Pad Plus is looking like a steal though, if you’re looking for a bang-for-buck tablet to gift someone this Christmas!
