Honor introduced a new X8 smartphone. But now, with 5G connectivity.
The new Honor X8 5G looks a lot like the 4G-only version that came out in March. For one, it has the same 4×4 square camera layout on the back. Although, it lacks the fourth sensor, so the last glass houses the LED flash instead of having it in the middle.
It may appear fancier due to 5G, but the rest of the specs have actually been downgraded from the 4G model.
For one, the said camera setup lacks a depth sensor. The main 64-megapixel shooter was also dropped to 48-megapixels and the ultra-wide lens is gone. Still, it managed to have a macro and depth sensor.
Also, it oddly has a smaller screen at 6.5-inches (versus 6.7-inches) and has a lower HD+ (versus FHD+) pixel resolution. It also uses a traditional waterdrop notch instead of the cleaner punch-hole that the 4G variant has.
On the upside, it has a bigger 5,000mAh battery (vs 4,000mAh) and uses the same 22.5W fast charger. Oh, and of course, there’s the 5G connectivity brought by the Snapdragon 480 Plus processor. Other than bringing the new connectivity standard, few performance reviews favor it over the 4G model’s Snapdragon 680 chip.
