Motorola has finally introduced the vanilla Moto Edge 50.
It came out long after the Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Fusion, and Edge 50 Ultra. As expected, the Motorola Edge 50 has toned down chipset: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. It is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Despite its humble processor, the rest of the specs feel pretty high-end. We have a premium 6.67-inch P-OLED screen on the front with a 2712 x 1220 pixel resolution, 10-bit color, and 1900 nits of peak brightness.
We also have a fast 68W TurboPower wired and 15W wireless charging to juice up the 5,000mAh battery. Software is handled by Android 14 and is guaranteed to receive 3 upgrades.
For the cameras, we have the 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch Lytia 700C sensor from Sony, joined by a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical and 30x digital zoom, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide shooter that doubles as a macro lens. A 32-megapixel camera is on the front for selfies.
Motorola is boasting that the Edge 50 is the “world’s slimmest MIL-STD-810H military-grade certified” smartphone after it was tested to survive drops, vibrations, extremely low and high temperatures, and even salt fog. The device is also IP68 dust and water-resistant.
Pricing and availability details for the Motorola Edge 50 are yet to be known, so stay tuned for that.
