OnePlus strengthens its presence in the midrange market with the release of a new Nord device, the N20 5G.
The specs and features of the OnePlus Nord N20 5G look similar to a lot of competing devices we’ve seen today. It even shares an identical camera layout to the Reno 7 series, a device from OnePlus’s sister company.
Let’s dig in. The Nord 20 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 695 CPU, one of the cheapest 5G-equipped chips from Qualcomm. It’s also built on a 6nm process for better power efficiency, clocked at 2.2GHz, and comes with Adreno 619 GPU for gaming.
The display looks a little disappointing, primarily because of the lack of a high refresh rate. On the upside, it uses a colorful and contrasty 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with the standard 60Hz. Its predecessor had a faster 90Hz screen, although it only used a less visually impressive IPS panel.
Also, having an OLED panel means that we’re getting a fancy in-display fingerprint scanner. OnePlus also rigged it with a stereo speaker setup for better sound.
OnePlus resisted going with a 5,000mAh battery and instead went with a 4,500mAh battery — possibly to keep it lighter and more compact. It’s bundled with a 33W adapter for fast charging.
It may not have the Hasselblad tech that the flagship OnePlus 10 Pro has, but the camera setup still looks pretty packed for a budget device. Leading the pack is a 64-megapixel main shooter, joined by the usual 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Sadly, it still ships with the Android 11 operating system. Albeit, it should receive the latest Android 12 version soon.
The OnePlus Nord N20 5G is currently only available in the US via T-Mobile and Metro for USD282 (around Php14,800). Its global availability details, including the Philippines, should be announced soon.
