The first smartphone powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip is now out. The Redmi A4 5G will be first available in India, but may soon arrive in countries like the Philippines.
This new chip found on the Redmi A4 5G has two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. Initial variants will come with a single 4GB RAM option but buyers can pick between 64GB and 128GB of storage.
As with most entry-level phones, the A4 5G compensates by having a large display. It has a 6.88-inch IPS screen with only an HD+ resolution, but a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
There’s a waterdrop notch on top of the screen for the 8-megapixel selfie camera. On the back, there’s a circular camera island for the 50-megapixel main camera and two unspecified auxiliary lenses.
It ships with Android 14 with HyperOS and Xiaomi pledged to give it two software upgrades and four years of security patches.
The battery has a 5,160mAh capacity. It only has 18W fast charging support, but Xiaomi is shipping it with a 33W charger for some reason.
Those in India can get the Redmi A4 5G with a price of INR8,499 (~Php5,900) for the 4GB/64GB model and INR9,499 (~Php6,600) for the 4GB/128GB.
