Samsung has subtly unveiled the Galaxy A16 4G overseas, and it sets a standard for software support on entry-level smartphones.
Like its 5G counterpart launched a few weeks earlier, the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G will receive software updates and security patches for 6 years — longer than other brands’ software support, even on their high-end devices.

The specs list is similar to the Galaxy A15 5G. Only this time, it uses a MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core processor instead of the 5G-capable Exynos 1330. Other than that, everything else is identical, even the 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.
It will also have a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED on the front with a punch-hole for the 13-megapixel selfie camera. Despite the AMOLED screen, Samsung chose to put the fingerprint scanner on the side instead of on the display.

On the back, its got a 50-megapixel main shooter, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. A 5,000mAh battery is on the inside, paired with 25W charging support.
As a cherry on top, this budget smartphone has an IP54 dust and splash-resistant rating and is noticeably thin at only 7.9mm.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 4G will be available in France in November 2024, with international release details and pricing yet to be unveiled.
