Samsung just introduced its latest flagship line for 2023. Check out the new Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus were launched alongside the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but that Note-like device deserves to be talked about separately. For now, let’s stick to the first two.
Unlike their predecessors, we’re not seeing any major upgrades to the 2023 line-up. Possibly the only main one is that all units shipping worldwide will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor — no more in-house Exynos chips.
The display also got an improvement, but still similar to the devices before it. They both uses Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens with a FHD+ pixel resolution and a 48Hz-120Hz refresh rate. The vanilla is only at 6.1-inches while the Plus version comes in at 6.6-inches.
It also has a new feature called Vision Booster, which uses a special ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the screen’s color and contrast to match your surroundings.
There’s a punch-hole on the screen for the upgraded 12-megapixel front-facing camera, which has support Super HDR at 60fps video recording.
On the back, we have a similar 50-megapixel camera that can now shoot 8K videos at 30fps. There’s also a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel sensor that can do 3x optical zoom.
The Camera RAW app can no also shoot full 50MP resolution images.
Samsung has also upgraded the batteries with additional 200mAh. The Galaxy S23 now has 3,900mAh while the Galaxy S23 Plus now has 4,700mAh. Both still have wireless charging but do differ in fast wired charging: 25W and 45W, respectively.
As a cherry on top, both devices are the first to use the new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Both the screen and the back panel also uses recycled materials.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 has a price of Php53,990 and Php57,990 for the 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants, respectively. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 Plus is available for Php68,990 for the 8GB/256GB model and Php76,990 for the 8GB/512GB.
You can pre-order the Galaxy S23 series in the Philippines from February 2 to 23 through the Samsung.com website and get up to Php76,000 in discounts, which includes a free memory upgrade worth up to Php8,000.
