Sharp has revealed two new devices with minimalist looks in Japan developed by Miyake Design, and unlike their previous releases, it looks like these two will actually make it to other markets.
First, let’s take a look at the Sharp Aquos R9, which comes with three 50-megapixel cameras. There’s the 1/1.55-inch main one with a 23mm equivalent, f/1.9 aperture, and uses a Leica Hektor lens. The second is an ultra-wide lens with a 13mm equivalent while the third shooter is made for selfies.
The cameras sit in a bubbly-looking rounded camera island on the back. While on the front, we have a 6.5-inch IGZO OLED screen with thin bezels and a whopping 240Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, it’s powered by a midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor with 12GB of RAM, an Android 14 operating system, a standard 5,000mAh battery, and even an IP68 and military-grade rating for being water and dust-resistant. The price for the Sharp Aquos R9, even in Japan, is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the Sharp Aquos wish4 is a cheaper alternative featuring an IPS HD+ screen, a Dimensity 700 processor, and only a single 50-megapixel rear camera with an 8-megapixel sensor on the front.
Still, it runs on Android 14 and has the same battery and durability ratings. It’s also made from 60% recycled materials. Like the R9, the price for the Aquos wish4 is yet to be revealed.
