Sony rarely releases smartphones compared to other brands, but when they do, they do it well, just like what they did on their latest flagship, the Sony Xperia 1 V.
The new Sony Xperia 1 V boasts a crazy-sharp 4K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 21:9 aspect ratio, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It also kept the X1 mobile engine that enhances video quality. You can also use the device as an external viewfinder and recorder on select Sony professional cameras.
We have the same glass on the back, paired with a grippy finish, ridged sides, and IP65 and IP68 dust and water-resistant. Being a 2023 flagship, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Like all Sony flagships, the Xperia 1 V has a pretty packed camera department. It has a 52-megapixel multi-aspect sensor with a 4.3:3 ratio that sits between 4:3 for photos and 16:9 for videos. It’s a 1/1.35-inch sensor that’s 70% bigger than its predecessor.
The main camera boasts tons of special and unique features that help it capture more light for lower noise. Moving on, it also has an 85-125mm f/2.3-2.8 telephoto lens in front of a 12-megapixel sensor. Another 12-megapixel camera handles 16mm ultra-wide shots.
As for the rest of the specs, it has improved stereo speakers that are louder with better bass, has a 5,000mAh battery, and has 30W wired charging support. Wireless and reverse wireless charging is also available, but the speed was not mentioned.
The Sony Xperia 1 V has a price of EUR1,299 (~Php79,200) in the United Kingdom and will be available in June. Release details in the Philippines are yet to be known.
