Xiaomi has quietly rolled out a new home projector that won’t break the bank. The Redmi Projector 5, announced in China on August 3, 2026, comes with a few tricks that set it apart from other budget models.
The most noticeable feature is its metal gimbal stand. Unlike most projectors that sit flat on a table, this one can tilt a full 360 degrees. That means you can point it at a blank wall or even straight up at the ceiling. It is a simple addition, but it gives you more freedom to pick where you want to watch.
The picture quality is solid for the price. It outputs a native 1080p resolution and can stretch an image up to 120 inches across. Brightness is rated at 400 CVIA lumens, which is decent for darker rooms, but probably not enough for daytime viewing. It also has a low blue light certification, so your eyes might feel less tired after a long movie.
Setting it up is pretty straightforward. The projector uses a laser sensor to handle focus and keystone correction automatically. If you move it, it readjusts the image within seconds. It also works at an angle, allowing up to 20 degrees of side projection.
Inside, it runs on a MediaTek MT9-series chip with 1GB of memory and 32GB of storage. You get a Bluetooth voice remote for searching content, plus dual-band Wi-Fi and wireless casting from phones or laptops. It also connects to Xiaomi’s smart home system, so you can link it with lights or curtains for automatic scenes.
The Redmi Projector 5 is now available for pre-order in China. The regular price is CNY1,299, but early buyers can grab it for CNY999 (~Php,9000). There is no confirmation yet on whether it will arrive in other markets.
