Although the pandemic generally lowered demand for goods and services, that apparently hasn’t applied to home appliances. Local brand XTREME Appliances has reported a 148-percent increase in sales of TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and other home appliances in 2021.

Stephen Cheng, the brand’s vice president for marketing, attributes the jump in sales to Filipino consumers getting appliances upgrade as their means to cope with quarantines and the new normal.
