Acknowledging that some moments in our lives are meant to be shared just with friends (and not the entire public), Instagram has released a new app feature for private sharing. With Instagram Direct, only a few people you select can access private photos and videos, instead of all your followers.
To use Instagram Direct, simply share a photo/video using the Direct tab within the app. In such tab, you can tap the names of whom you want to send the photo to. Once sent, you can then check who among your recipients have seen the photo, as well as who among them have commented and liked it.
Instagram Direct can also be used to send a photo or video to someone who’s currently not following you. It’s up to that user, however, to decide on whether to view it or not.
First released for the iOS platform, Instagram is now also available for Android and Windows Phone platforms.
