Commuting in and around Metro Manila has been a hassle for the longest time. So, despite the number of metered taxis in the metro, they don’t usually provide great comfort and service, making ride-hailing apps the best option for a comfortable and safe ride to your destination – enter a new option – Green GSM.

Green GSM (or Green and Smart Mobility) is the first 100% electric taxi fleet in the country, providing a more affordable and eco-friendlier alternative to your transport needs. It uses Vietnam’s VinFast electric vehicles (EVs) for its ride-hailing services.

As to being Grab’s competitor, it may not be the perfect comparison. Green GSM is a taxi operator and can also be flagged manually, making the older taxis that currently roam the roads its competitors.

However, its advantage is its more modern approach, including its own mobile booking app and the use of smoother, emission-free cars.

How to book a ride using Green GSM

Here’s how simple it is to book a ride using Green GSM.

Step 1: Download the app “Green GSM: Book EV Rides” on Google Play or the App Store.

Step 2: Register for a Green GSM account.

Step 3: Input your current location and your target destination.

Note: You can also use the app to book others or even call its landline to schedule a ride (02-77778080).

Step 4: Once you confirm your pins, the app will show a price range for your fare.

Step 5: Tap “Book,” and wait for your vehicle to arrive.

Currently, Green GSM has limited payment options, which are only available in cash and QR PH, with the option to link Maya. However, they may soon add more payment schemes, like credit cards.

In addition to Vietnam and the Philippines, Green GSM operates in other Southeast Asian countries, such as Laos and Indonesia.
