Leading e-wallet and financial app GCash has waived the transaction fees for QRPh transactions or merchant discount rates (MDRs) for micro-merchants that use scan-to-pay payment options. The said fees will be waived until the end of 2023.
Micro-merchants are businesses that are smaller in scale like public market (palengke) vendors, sari-sari stores, and online sellers.
What’s more, GCash has also increased the wallet limit of micro-merchants to Php500,000 per month. The company has also waived the 1.5% transaction fee for up to Php100,000 in gross sales.

In contrast, other e-wallet and payment platforms are charging fees as high as 2% for the use of their cashless transaction services like card and QR payments.
“For GCash, making this service free means micro-entrepreneurs can earn a little extra for their families through safe cashless transactions. We are committed to working with our micro-entrepreneurs to achieve their business goals in the digital economy,” said G-Xchange, Inc. President and CEO Ren-Ren Reyes.
