Geeks PH and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) are asking startups to save November 22 to 24, 2023 on their calendars as the sixth edition of the Geeks On A Beach (GOAB) is set to take its place on Panglao, Bohol. A nationwide event, GOAB will cap the 2023 Philippines Startup Week events.

With the shore as part of its identity, the partnership program seeks to provide the best via conversations and interactions with a figurative ride on the wave of technological advances. About 500 are anticipated to take part in the discussion involving trends and forecasts on design, tech, and startup.

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy will be formally joining the event and will play a pivotal role in opening it.

Geeks PH’s Tina Amper, who is also the founding organizer of GOAB, said that they are similarly excited as their alumni and the startup community to bring the event back.

GOAB-2023

Highlighting the event’s initial kickoff ten years prior as well as the pandemic that put it into a hiatus, Amper also emphasized the “new and positive development” aimed at celebrating the advancement of digitalization, the rise of AI, and greater funding coming from Filipino startups.

Helping Amper with the event are other GOAB founding organizing members, including Happy Garaje’s Mark Deutsch, Symph’s Dave Overton, and PRWorks’ Doris Isubal-Mongaya.

Serving their roles as advisors from GOAB are also Endeavor PH and Hatchd’s Manny Ayala, Shoppable’s Chris Blanquera, Plug and Play Tech Center’s Jojo Flores, Syntactics’ Stephanie Caragos, Embiggen Group’s Paul Pajo, and Silicon Valley-based Science and Technology Advisory Council’s Christina Laskowski.

The large meetings will dabble around the exploration of potential investment opportunities. Breakout sessions, meanwhile, will talk about motifs centered around women and the youth, including AgriTech, HealthTech, EduTech, ClimateTech, and FinTech.
