There’s a cool new feature in the preview versions of Windows 11 that makes it super easy to compress image files. You won’t need to mess around with resizing in Photos or even deal with the quality and image formats in Photoshop.
A report from Windows Latest says that this new feature is part of the Windows Share UI. It comes with a handy toggle that lets users adjust the quality of image files, with the to choose between Low, Medium, High, and Original quality settings. Once pick one, Windows will create a new image that keeps the same resolution but reduces the quality to make the file size smaller.

During their tests, they found that a 1MB wallpaper with a resolution of 3840×2160 can be squeezed down to just 147KB without changing the actual resolution. Plus, you can still crop the new image and tweak it however you want.
Right now, this built-in image compression feature is rolling out to Windows 11 Insiders first. It should be available for everyone else in the next few months.
