ASUS has introduced the new ROG Xbox Ally X20, which comes bundled with AR glasses.
The new ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 is bundled with an ROG Xreal R1 Edition 20 glasses. This will give users an enormous 171-inch virtual display with a 240Hz refresh rate and 57-degree field-of-view. It uses micro-OLED displays with 1920 x 1080 resolution, a high 240Hz refresh rate, and 0.01ms response time.
This pair of AR glasses also has an electrochromic lens with three levels of dimming. It then connects to the handheld consoles via a single USB-C cable. You can also connect it to other devices via the ROG Control Dock, which adds two HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports.
Going to the Ally X20, we have a bigger 7.4-inch OLED display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It has a variable refresh rate that can go from 30Hz to 120Hz. It also has 1,400-nit peak brightness, VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 1000, and Dolby Vision.
Powering the device is an AMD Z2 Extreme processor, with 8 cores, up to 16 threads, clock speeds of up to 5.0GHz, 24MB cache, and a 16-core GPU with up to 35W TDP. It is paired with 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD storage.
It also boasts TMR sensors on the joysticks, which replace Hall Effect sensors and are resistant to stick drift. The ABXY buttons also now go flush with the case when pressed. Plus, the D-Pad can now be rotated in 4-way and 8-way mode.
For connectivity, it has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. It then has one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with DisplayPort support, one USB-C Thunderbolt 4 (DisplayPort 2.1 with FreeSync), and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Pricing and availability for the new ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 are yet to be announced.
