Sony has announced the PlayStation Pulse and PlayStation Pulse Edge, two new wireless headsets. Both use planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link connectivity.

Planar magnetic drivers use flat diaphragms between magnets, which can deliver cleaner bass and less distortion. Sony brought this tech to gaming with the Pulse Elite in 2024 after buying audio brand Audeze.

PlayStation Link offers ultra-low latency audio and lets players switch between the PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac. The headsets also support Bluetooth. Both models have microphones with AI noise rejection.

The Pulse Edge has double the magnets of the standard Pulse for deeper bass. It also adds active noise cancellation and a detachable boom mic.

The Pulse launches in select markets during the 2026 holiday season. The Pulse Edge follows in early 2027. Prices have not been announced.
