Philippine team TNC Predator recently lost at The International 2019 (TI9) at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai, China. They were defeated by The Netherlands’ Team Liquid in a clean sweep of 2-0, in a best of 3 series, last Wednesday.
With the loss, TNC Predator is guaranteed to finish between the 9th or 12th place in the Tournament, which consists of 18 different teams.
During the early parts of both games, TNC looked really good and were poised to win, but obviously, Team Liquid had different plans. It looked like Team Liquid was able to counter all of the moves TNC was making, eventually leading them to the win.

It’s not all bad, though. There are still some good things we Filipinos can get from the game.
Firstly, by finishing within the 9th-12th range, TNC has finished better compared to their appearance last year, where they lost and became the second team to get eliminated from the tournament. It’s a start and a sign of improvement.

Second, even though they only finished between 9th and 12th place, the team will still able to get a cash prize of USD675,867 or around Php34,813,571.24 when directly converted. This is the second-highest cash prize TNC was able to win.
The highest cash prize they’ve won is at USD800,000 (~Php41,200) back in the WESG 2016. The prize pool for TI9 has reportedly reached USD 33 million already! Beating the prize pool Fornite’s World cup event.
Let’s hope TNC Predator gets to be the champion in next year’s tournament.
