As part of the aid the Chinese government is giving the Philippines to help cope with the current health crisis, the Chinese embassy has donated tablets to the Department of Education.

A Facebook post by Huang Xilian, the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines, shows him handing 2000 Huawei tablets to Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones in Malacañang Palace last Tuesday afternoon.

The ceremony was witnessed by Robert Boje, Presidential Assistance on Foreign Affairs, and DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan.

As per Xilian, the tablets were given to help Filipino students overcome the access and connectivity issues they may face during distance learning.

He added that they would continue to support the education endeavor in the country. The 2,000 Huawei tablets are just the first, as the ambassador noted that more tablets would be donated.
