PLDT and Smart have started the new year on a roll, having bested competing networks in providing Internet service in the Philippines. This claim is not just coming from their own press release, as the latest Ookla Speedtest report has proclaimed these two as the overall top provider in the second half of 2020.

PLDT, the country’s largest telco along with its wireless subsidiary Smart, is more or less the number one service provider in both fixed broadband and mobile data.

Per the latest Ookla report, PLDT achieved the highest Speed Score in the country at 27.28 points for fixed broadband. In comparison, Converge ICT, Sky and Globe earned 23.92, 20.55, and 11.11, respectively.

As for mobile, Smart garnered 24.99 points, while Globe only got 15.30. In terms of download speeds, based on millions of tests by subscribers, PLDT reached 79.48Mbps on average, while Smart reached 20.08Mbps.
