PLDT Inc. and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. was hailed as the country’s fastest fixed and mobile networks for Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 of 2018 by Ookla, a global leader in internet testing and analysis.

For the Fastest Mobile Network Award, Smart acquired a Speed Score of 14.98 with an average download speed of 17.25Mbps and average upload speed of 7.65Mbps, based on 2,118,464 user-initiated tests taken with Speedtest on LTE-capable devices in the Philippines. On the other hand, Globe got a lower score of 9.93.


For the Fastest Fixed Network Award, PLDT seized a Speed Score of 17.31 with an average download speed of 22.84Mbps and average upload speed of 23.45Mbps, based on 29,076,090 user-initiated test nationwide, making SKY the second in line with a Speed Score of 10.89, followed by Smart Bro with 9.79, and Globe with 6.58 Speed Score.

According to Ookla’s country reports, Smart has posted big leads in key cities like Quezon City, Makati, and Manila, while PLDT is way ahead in fixed network in Quezon City, Pasig, and Manila.
