If you thought that there can’t be anything special about a smartphone that only costs Php1,499, well the Cherry Mobile Ace is out to prove you wrong. Despite packing the most basic specs, it just so happens to be the first Firefox smartphone to market in Southeast Asia! Pretty cool, eh?

Lockscreen

Based on its hardware alone, the Cherry Mobile Ace is about as basic as it gets. It’s even more basic than today’s entry level Android smartphones. You’re getting a 3.5 inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 1GHz single core processor by Spreadtrum, 128MB RAM, and 256MB internal storage.

Wide-Angle

Of course, Firefox OS is nowhere near as bloated as Android, so it doesn’t require as much power to run. However, that also means the functionality of the OS is quite limited itself. You do get most of the important features you would expect from a smartphone out of the box, as well as an app marketplace to expand the usefulness of the Cherry Mobile Ace. Still, it’s all pretty basic.

Back

For a Php1,499 smartphone, the Ace isn’t bad. It actually gets pretty good because Cherry Mobile will be dropping the price on it from December 13 to 15. So what do you think? Is the Cherry Mobile Ace something you’d pick up?
