A local smartphone with 4G LTE connectivity has arrived for Php8,999. The Cherry Mobile Ultra is a 5-inch handset with a quad-core Snapdragon processor inside.

Decently equipped with specs for a smartphone that’s priced under Php10k, the Cherry Mobile Ultra features a 5-inch display with IPS technology, a Snapdragon 400 processor, and Adreno 305 graphics. The latter two specs are rather rare for a local device, given that local companies are quite fond of releasing MediaTek-powered devices.

It’s also worth noting that the Ultra is the company’s second handset to come touting 4G connectivity—the then expensive W900 LTE being Cherry Mobile’s first LTE phone. Indeed, you can expect the Ultra to be a fast phone when accessing the Internet. But of course that also depends on the 4G network you’ll be using.

Cherry Mobile Ultra Specs

  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
  • 5-inch IPS LCD (720×1280 HD), ~294ppi

When it comes to cameras, the Cherry Mobile Ultra offers a 13-megapixel shooter at the back, complete with backside illumination, autofocus, and LED flash. It’s also capable of 1080p video recording at 30fps and paired with a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.

Taking care of the software department is Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, with a 4.4 KitKat upgrade in tow. Besides LTE, the Cherry Mobile Ultra’s connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. Storage space is not that bad, with 8GB internal storage (lesser when taking system files into account) and up to 32GB external storage available.

Fancy grabbing the Cherry Mobile Ultra? Expect company stores to have the device in stock starting this week. There’s a free powerbank for every purchase, which most likely will come in handy considering 4G connectivity and the battery having only 2000mAh capacity. Once again, the price for this LTE-capable device is Php8,999.
