HONOR in partnership with the German product design studio PORSCHE DESIGN is bringing the world’s thinnest inward-foldable phone—the HONOR Magic V2 RSR—in China. The product mirrors both companies’ prowess in designing world-class styles, setting the future of design and innovations.
HONOR Device Co., Ltd. CEO George Zhao, in speaking about the collaboration, highlighted the two companies’ “shared pursuit of excellence,” intending to create “exciting products for global consumers.”
Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Lifestyle Group Stefan Buescher, meanwhile, expresses the company’s goal of transporting Porsche Design’s emotion and “progressive functionality, cutting-edge technology, and the unique design language” to their global consumers.
Described as a meet-up of HONOR’s human-centric approach and Porsche Design’s purist and functional aesthetics, HONOR Magic V2 RSR exudes a clandestine design that takes motorsports as its muse. This is most reminiscent when looking at the flyline of the backside of the breakthrough device, which shows semblance to the hood of a Porsche 911. With an improved grip, holding the Magic V2 RSR is akin to an actual sportscar experience. And what better also to display the similarities than with a colorway that gives the impression of a Porsche car—Agate Grey.
Building something as intricate as the Magic V2 RSR requires more than just a fancy design. It also took a more sophisticated choice of materials to use, all in the name of convenient portability. Despite that, this device still manages to remain light and thin at only 234g and 9.9 mm.
In keeping the industry-leading smartphone at its most pristine looks, its display durability was reinforced—giving it ten times the screen resistance of a typical smartphone as well as a 7+ rating on the Mohs scale.
