Huawei has made its presence known at the Mobile World Congress by unveiling its latest mid-range smartphone. The Huawei Ascend G6 has a 4.5-inch qHD display, 4G LTE connectivity, and a 5MP front-facing camera.

Borrowing some elements of the better-specced P6, the Huawei Ascend G6 comes with an attractive design. While some of the components are so last year, this smartphone does come with a Sony IMX134 sensor for its 8-megapixel rear camera. Available color variants for the device are black, white, pink, gold, and blue.

Basically, it’s the selfie who can benefit the most out of the Huawei Ascend G6. While this handset doesn’t have the rotating camera with higher resolutions of the Oppo N1 and Gionee Elife E7, its 5-megapixel front sensor should be more than enough, complete with audio controls, auto-scene recognition, and auto-facial enhancement. Couple those features with a fast LTE connection, and selfie shots can be uploaded straight away to social networks.

Although the phone is touted as capable of LTE connectivity, its 3G-only variant will actually arrive first in Q1 2014. The Huawei Ascend G6 4G will follow in April 2014. Suggested retail price is around Php15,500 for the LTE version.
