The year is about to end, which means it’s time to see the latest Qualcomm flagship chip that will power a lot of high-end phones for 2023. Meet the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU.
Just like its predecessors, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will boasts the new Kyro CPU that provides 35% faster performance while still achieving 40% improvements on efficiency.

It consists of Cortex X3-based single Kyro Prime core that’s clocked at 3.2Ghz, four performance cores at 2.8Ghz, and three efficiency cores at 2.0Ghz.
The new chip also offers faster RAM support with LP-DDR5X at 4,200MHz. Plus, the latest UFS 4.0 format for storage.
Another big upgrade comes from the new Adreno GPU, which offers 25% and 45% better performance and power efficiency, respectively.
What’s more, it brings hardware accelerated ray tracing, which we expect game developers to take advantage soon.

The new Qualcomm flagship chip also comes with the latest Snapdragon X70 modem that has support from mmWave and sub-6Ghz 5G to offer up to 10Gbps download speeds.
There’s also the latest WiFi 7 802.11be support via the new FastConnect 78000 system.
For AI processing, there’s a new Hexagon processor with support for INT4 format. The chip provides 4.35x faster performance.
Camera improvements are also onboard. Qualcomm claims that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is optimized for Sony’s DOL-HDR, and Samsung’s 200-megapixel HP3 sensor.

Also onboard are Bluetooth 5.3, support for up to QHD+ screens at 144Hz or 4K at 60Hz, and USB 3.1 support with Quick Charge 5.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will arrive on flagship phones from OnePlus, OPPO, Motorola, vivo, ASUS, Xiaomi, and more Android brands.
