A report from market analytics firm Canalys reveals the top smartphone brands in Southeast Asia, in terms of shipments, for the first quarter of 2025.

Albeit, the report had some bad news. The smartphone market in the region declined by 3% to 22.8 million shipments in Q1 2025, breaking the 5-quarter annual growth. One of the reasons behind it is, as per Canalys, the “inflationary pressures have weakened consumer demand, particularly in the entry-level and mid-range segments of the market.”

For the whole SEA, Samsung reclaimed the top position with a 19% (4.3 million units) market share, followed by Xiaomi with 17%, TRANSSION (Infinix, TECNO, Itel) with 15%, OPPO at 14%, vivo at 12%, realme at 8%, and Apple at 8%.

What we’re more curious about, of course, is the Philippines.

TRANSSION and Xiaomi stay in the first and second spots with 33% and 16% market shares, respectively. Samsung claimed the third spot at 13%, realme stays at number four with 11%, while vivo dropped to the fifth spot with 8%.

Will the market recover this quarter? How will it change the rankings? Let’s all wait and see.
