Recognizing how important it is to safeguard public conversation, especially with the 2022 Philippine Election on the horizon, Twitter has assembled a team whose main goal is to identify threats from malicious actors, prevent platform and trend manipulation, and combat misinformation.
In other words, the team is pro-facts and anti-fake news. Its members consist of experts who are well-versed in the Filipino language and local context.
- How to avoid and recognize fake news on Facebook
- How to find precinct and check voter registration status in the Philippines
Twitter has also partnered with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and various local media organizations to promote voter education and create a safe, healthy space for election discussions.
Special hashtags such as #Halalan2022 and #BumotoKa come with links to the COMELEC and Vote Safe PH websites and customized emojis designed to help Twitter users discover election-related discussions.
