BOOX has launched a new version of its compact 6-inch e-reader, called the Go 6. The main addition is support for a stylus, which lets people write directly on the screen.

Along with the pen support, BOOX made a few other changes. The new BOOX Go 6 Gen II comes in four different colors. It also has a pre-installed app for taking notes. People can use the stylus to highlight sentences, add notes to books, or write down reminders and shopping lists.

The company also increased the memory to 3GB. That should make the screen respond a bit faster when you tap or turn pages. The display is a 6-inch black and white E Ink screen with 300 pixels per inch. That is standard for most e-readers. It has adjustable front lights, 32GB of storage, and a slot for a microSD card. The whole thing is very light, just over five ounces.

One useful thing about this ereader is that it runs on Android. That means you can download apps from the Google Play Store. But there is a downside. E Ink screens are not designed for fast moving apps. Some apps may feel slow or choppy. It really depends on what you try to run.

Battery life is good. Like most e-readers today, the Go 6 can run for many days on one full charge if you use it normally.

The new BOOX Go Gen II works with the company’s own InkSense Plus pen. The e-reader itself costs $200 (~Php12,000), and the pen is an extra $45 (~Php2,700).
