Coins.PH, one of the top Philippine cryptocurrency exchanges, ride-hailing app inDrive, and the decentralized mapping network Hivemapper have collaborated to launch the first blockchain-powered fleet in the Philippines. This will allow inDrive drivers to earn rewards by mapping Metro Manila roads.

“At Coins.ph, we want to empower Filipinos to earn through the opportunities that crypto and web3 provide,” said Wei Zhou, CEO of Coins.ph.

This innovation aims to leverage the DePIN technology, or Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks), essentially integrating blockchain with ride-hailing services. Participating inDrive drivers will have Hivemapper’s mapping devices, which will help build an up-to-date decentralized global map.

This decentralized mapping can be an invaluable resource in cities where infrastructure and navigation remain a problem. This real-time and hyper-accurate mapping can be used for various applications, such as urban planning, traffic management, and location-based services.

Participating drivers will earn $HONEY tokens in addition to their income from ride-hailing services for their contributions. These tokens will be stored securely on coins.PH for seamless reward management.

This innovation of launching a blockchain-powered fleet is the dawn of a new age in the Philippine transportation and infrastructure sector. This move towards decentralized technology may also contribute to the country’s other local adoption of blockchain technologies.
