Huawei is no stranger to the computer market with their MateBook laptop line. But this time, the tech giant is conquering new heights as they enter the desktop computer territory.

Back in September 2019, Huawei launched its Kunpeng 920 desktop motherboard. It is compatible with ARM quad-core and octa-core processors, 64GB DDR4 RAM. Plus, it has PCIe 3.0 slots, USB 3.0 ports, SATA 3.0, Gigabit internet, and more.

This basically means that Huawei’s own platform will be easy to work with, no need for Huawei to build from the ground up.

Now, in 2020, a video posted in Chinese video-sharing website Bilibili shows a test displaying the Huawei computer’s performance, primarily in video rendering and 4K video playback.

It got a score of 11 minutes and 47 seconds on the Blender BMW test. It also played 4k streamed videos smoothly, but did struggle in playing local 4K videos.

A commenter on the Bilibili video, who claims to be a Kunpeng developer, said that it’s the Lite version of the CPU, hence the seemingly poor performance.

On the upside, a Huawei dektop computer was spotted on 3DMark earlier. It’s said to come with a Ryzen 5 Pro 4400G processor with six cores and 12 threads, and is clocked at 3.7GHz to 4.3GHz. It comes with a Vega 7 GPU and power consumption of 65W.

The details are still really vague, it’s still a clear sign that a Huawei desktop computer is launching soon. They are just one of the big smartphone brands dabbling in the computer business. Even Xiaomi now has its own desktop PC.
