DITO Telecommunity, the awarded firm to be the third-telco company in the Philippines, assured the government that they are ready to roll-out services by July 2020.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), led by Gregorio Honasan, as well as the Philippine government, expressed their concerns about DITO Telecommunity delivering to their commitment to start rolling out services by July 2020. Which is only six months away from now.

The heads of DITO met with DICT to provide updates. And as per Honasan, the meeting made them confident that DITO can deliver and meet the requirements on time.
DITO sent its top three executives to relay updates to DICT. The firm provided updates regarding the developments of its tower building, construction of network facilities, and infrastructure development.
The company also provided a projected timetable to assure the government that they are on time.
As per Adel Tamano, DITO’s chief administrative officer, they are on track to meet their first-year commitment to the Philippine government and its people.
That includes providing 27MBps of internet speeds to 37% of the population in the country for its initial year of operation.
DITO also promised the government to provide 55Mbps of speeds to the 84% of the population in the next five years.
If they fail to deliver in these promises at their respective timetables, the government can forfeit its Php25.7 billion performance bond.
Still, DITO Telecommunity is expected to break the duopoly of Globe and Smart. As the competition rises, internet services are expected to improve and the prices will go down.
Formerly known as MISLATEL, DITO Telecommunity is a consortium formed by Udenna Corp. and Chelsea Logistics of Davao’s Dennis Uy and China Telecom.
