Epson has announced two new desktop scanners designed to help offices manage their paperwork digitally. The new models, called the WorkForce DS-1730 and DS-1760WN, are built to be fast, user-friendly, and more environmentally friendly.
They designed these A4 scanners to handle a wide variety of documents. It can scan up to 30 pages per minute using the automatic document feeder (ADF), which holds 60 sheets. For more delicate items like photos, passports, or booklets, the built-in flatbed scanner can digitize a page in about seven seconds.
A key feature is the ability to combine documents from both the ADF and the flatbed into a single digital file, which helps streamline complex scanning jobs. The scanners also include advanced functions like automatic double-sided scanning, text enhancement for clearer digital copies, and tools to correct punch holes or edges in documents.

To ensure consistent quality, the scanners can detect dirt on the glass and alert the user, helping avoid the need to rescan pages. They can also automatically detect and crop multiple items of different sizes in one go.
The Epson DS-1760WN model includes a 2.4 inch LCD touchscreen and a special feature called ScanWay. This allows users to scan directly to a network folder, USB drive, cloud service, or email without needing a computer connected. Both models come with software called Document Capture Pro, which lets users automate up to 30 different scanning tasks. The software includes optical character recognition (OCR) to create searchable PDFs or editable Word and Excel files. It also supports barcode recognition and can automatically separate documents based on barcodes or specific zones.
Epson also revealed that up to 30% of the main body of these scanners is made from recycled plastic. The DS-1730 is priced at Php26,385, while the more advanced DS-1760WN model is priced at Php38,830.
