The Far Eastern University Institute of Technology (FEU Tech) has announced its partnership with OpenAI with the goal of making the institution an AI-native university.
With this partnership, students, faculty members, and staff will be able to access OpenAI tools like ChatGPT Edu and Codex.
FEU Tech Senior Executive Director Benson Tan expressed how AI is now far from being just an optional skill for its students and faculty members.
“We are not reacting to AI. We are defining how AI is used responsibly in Philippine higher education. By working closely with OpenAI, this collaboration allows us to provide institution-wide access to ChatGPT Edu, a secure, managed version designed for universities. That means students, faculty, leadership, and staff can use it responsibly within guardrails aligned to our policies,” said the press release.
FEU Tech will integrate OpenAI into its multimedia, computing, and engineering programs. What’s more, students have the opportunity to join workshops and training sessions with OpenAI.
This partnership also plans to develop AI Classrooms, AI Tutor, and AI Skills Assessment Platform.
In the years to come, FEU Tech plans to use AI agents in administrative and operational functions for better efficiency.
