Freenet-Philippines-shuts-down

Freenet Philippines, the app that provides free access to participating websites, is shutting down.

In a Facebook post, Freenet Philippines announced that they will sign off on August 31, 2019. The app thanked all of those who joined their journey after years of existence. However, Freenet didn’t disclose the reason for their closure.

This sure is terrible news for Freenet users. For years, the app provided free access to select shopping, food, banking, news sites, and more. It doesn’t matter if you have data load or WiFi, for as long as you are a Smart, Sun, or TNT subscriber, you can use this app completely free.

In case you access a website or content that’s not part of the Freenet ecosystem, you will receive a warning before proceeding to avoid unexpected charges.

The interesting part is, you can even earn rewards when you use the app. Once you have enough, you can swap points for load packages and game coins.

If you haven’t done so, you can redeem your unspent reward points until Freenet Philippines go offline on August 31.
